John Foster’s Country Rise—and the Sweet Love Story That’s Been With Him Every Step of the Way

As John Foster continues to ride the wave of his American Idol success, finishing runner-up in Season 23, one thing has stayed steady through it all—his relationship with his high school sweetheart, Brooklyn Bourque.

From High School Halls to Country Music Dreams
John and Brooklyn go way back to their days at Brusly High School in Addis, Louisiana, where they graduated together in May 2024. While they kept things private at first, their relationship became “Instagram official” shortly after graduation when Brooklyn posted a sweet photo of the two together. Since then, they’ve celebrated a full year as a couple—and John marked the moment with a touching message:

“It’s been an amazing year and you’ve been beside me every step of the way. Happy 1 year anniversary. I love you so much.”

And he wasn’t exaggerating—Brooklyn has been by his side through every big moment. She’s cheered him on at live Idol shows, flew to Hawaii for his Top 24 performance, and most recently joined him in Nashville for CMA Fest, where John shared the stage with fellow Idol favorites.

Love, Support, and a Little “Cutie Patootie” Energy
Brooklyn has proudly supported John from day one, showing her excitement across social media. When his audition aired, she couldn’t contain her joy:

“EEEKKK!!! He’s going to Hollywood!!!! SO proud and grateful to be by your side on this awesome journey. You amaze me every day and I am so lucky I get to love a cutie patootie like you 😆”

She was also there during one of John’s most powerful Idol moments—when he performed his original song “Tell That Angel I Love Her,” written in memory of his friend Maggie Dunn. The moment was even more emotional knowing that Maggie was one of Brooklyn’s closest friends too.

Music, Medicine, and Making It Work
Even with the whirlwind of national fame, John hasn’t put his other dream on pause—he’s currently a freshman biology major at LSU, still aiming to become a doctor. He’s often said he wants to be a “singing oncologist,” blending music and medicine to help others heal.

Brooklyn, a former cheer captain at Brusly, also appears to be attending LSU. While she tends to stay out of the spotlight, her quiet strength and support speak volumes. She’s not just cheering him on from the sidelines—she’s been walking beside him through every step of this journey.

Nashville and the Grand Ole Dream
Now, as John gears up for one of the biggest moments of his life—his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on June 7—Brooklyn is right there with him in Music City. The couple even shared a sweet selfie from Music Row, showing just how far they’ve come from high school halls to the heart of country music.

Their story is a reminder that behind every rising star is someone who believed in them from the start. And for John Foster, that someone is Brooklyn.
