Lainey Wilson took the stage by storm with the live debut of her anthem “Hang Tight Honey” at the 59th ACM Awards on Thursday, May 16. Her powerful performance followed a rendition of “God Blessed Texas” and kicked off an unforgettable evening at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
Looking radiant in a bold red outfit on the ACM Awards red carpet, Wilson had already released “Hang Tight Honey” earlier that week, ahead of her much-anticipated new album. The song, which celebrates the hardworking men and women who dedicate their lives to the grind, follows the success of her hit “Country’s Cool Again.” That track also inspired the title of her upcoming 2024 headlining tour, Bell Bottom Country.
As she debuted “Hang Tight Honey,” Wilson shared a heartfelt message with her fans: “I’ve been on the road a lot these past few years, and while it’s tough being away from home, it’s remembering what I’m working for that keeps me going. This song is for all the hardworking people who get up every day to build a life for the ones they love.”
The song, which Wilson co-wrote with Driver Williams, Jason Nix, and Paul Sikes, will appear on her upcoming album, Whirlwind, due for release on August 23. The 14-track album follows her successful 2022 project, Bell Bottom Country, and marks a deeply personal and cathartic chapter in her musical journey. Wilson described the album as “the most personal piece of art I’ve ever made” and hopes it brings peace and comfort to her fans, much like it did for her during the writing process.
Wilson was one of the many stars to shine at the ACM Awards that night, joining artists like Post Malone, Kelsea Ballerini, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, Miranda Lambert, and many more.
