Eagles’ Don Henley Files Lawsuit For Return Of Stolen ‘Hotel California’ Lyrics

Eagles singer Don Henley has filed a lawsuit in New York to reclaim his handwritten notes and song lyrics from the ‘Hotel California’ album.

This legal action marks his second attempt to retrieve these documents after criminal charges against three individuals—Glenn Horowitz, Craig Inciardi, and Edward Kosinski—were dropped earlier this year for allegedly attempting to sell the items.

Henley claims that these pages were stolen, prompting him to pursue legal recourse following the dismissal of the criminal case against the accused.

Attorney Daniel Petrocelli stated:

“These 100 pages of personal lyric sheets belong to Mr. Henley and his family, and he has never authorized the defendants or anyone else to profit from them.”

Petrocelli added:

“Don Henley filed suit today in a New York federal court seeking the return of property that was stolen from him—his private handwritten notes and lyrics to the iconic songs from the ‘Hotel California’ album.”

In response to the lawsuit, lawyers for Kosinski and Inciardi have dismissed the claims as baseless. They argue that crucial information was allegedly withheld by Henley during the criminal proceedings.

Shawn Crowley, representing Kosinski, commented:

“Don Henley is attempting to rewrite history. We anticipate vigorously litigating this matter and pursuing a counterclaim against Henley for his alleged falsehoods and misuse of the legal system.”

Stacey Richman, Inciardi’s lawyer, characterized the lawsuit as an effort to intimidate and perpetuate a false narrative.

Henley’s legal team has expressed their intent to seek a jury trial for any unresolved issues. Meanwhile, the lyrics remain in the custody of the New York District Attorney’s Office pending further determination of ownership.

There was no immediate response from Glenn Horowitz’s legal representative regarding a request for comment.
