Ozzy Osbourne, often referred to as the “Godfather of Metal,” shared his thoughts in a Spin interview about not fully embracing the “metal” label. Despite Black Sabbath’s recognition as a pioneering heavy metal band, Osbourne views his music as more diverse and not strictly confined to the heavy metal genre.

He expressed his discomfort with being labeled solely as a metal artist, noting the challenges of being categorized in a specific genre, especially when experimenting with lighter or acoustic tracks.

Ozzy Osbourne reminisced about the earlier days when music was broadly classified as rock and reflected on his remarkable career since 1968, including recent Grammy Awards for his album “Patient Number 9.” He humorously admitted his awkwardness in receiving awards, highlighting his focus on music rather than accolades, but acknowledged the awards as a nice addition to his legacy.
