The powerful operatic voice style of Judas remains iconic in the music industry. When such kind of artist names his favorite albums, you know that it means a treasure in the world of Heavy Metal.

Rob Halford’s Favorite Metal Albums

The first album that Judas chose as his favorite was Motörhead’s album Ace of Spades (1980)The fourth album was the one that tied the group together from which they created a timeless album. The album contained the fusion of anger and the energy of punk.  “This is a hardcore roar of wild bombastic fuck you!” said Halford on the album, Ace of Spades.

The next album that was listed as his favorite was quite surprising to everyone. Judas frontman’s second favorite album was  Slipknotthe band’s self-titled album.  The album introduced the world of metals to its members. the 1999 album introduced Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Joey Jordison, and crew. Halford says: “When this came out, it was nu-metal pent-up rage searing a whole new era.”

Welkin at Dusk was another favorite album of Rob Halford. When we take a look back the years, we can find Rob mentioning him being interested to start a black metal project, so we can be sure why the legend picked this album, it is one of the most influential albums, so there’s no doubt on why he picked this.

This album contained many more touches than just black metal. the album contained nods like Bathory and Celtic Frost, and it also had a touch of classical music. Halford said: “I love this because it’s sonic blasphemy from the dark side”.

The next album that’s on my favorite list of Halford is Cowboys from Helland the next one is Slayer’s Reign in Blood, Dio’s Holy Diver. The album that he titled at the top of his favorite album list was 1970’s Black Sabbath, Black Sabbath’s debut album.

This clears the commotion and fans can point out why this comes at the top of Halford’s list. The album was the very first metal album that left its mark on the world after its presence. Sooner after its release, the album played an essential role in the world of Metal.

Black Sabbath is the album that is viewed as the first-ever doom metal track because it featured ‘Behind the Wall of Sleep’,‘N.I.B.’, and ‘The Wizard’. This album played a key role and this was the moment when everything finally started for metal. Without this album, artists like Judas Priest would not have any stage for the spotlight.

Halford explained: “This is the blueprint that epitomizes everything metal.”
