Rod Stewart is not only a rock legend but also a dedicated father to his eight children. On Thursday, he brought his signature energy to the stage in Nashville, sharing a heartwarming and lively moment with his seven-year-old son, Aiden.
In a video shared by his wife, Penny Lancaster, the 73-year-old music icon showed he still knows how to have fun. With his trademark flair, Rod entertained the audience by performing the viral “floss” dance, before stepping aside to let Aiden steal the spotlight with his impressive moves.
Dressed to impress, Rod sported a stylish white outfit adorned with polka dots, palm tree prints, and sparkling shoes. The “Forever Young” singer was visibly excited as he performed the classic hit “Stay With Me,” encouraging his young son to join in the dancing. Aiden took the cue and amped up the excitement, even breaking into an energetic floor routine that wowed the crowd.
The fun didn’t stop there. Rod and Aiden later turned the stage into an impromptu football field, playfully kicking inflatable footballs across the arena, much to the delight of fans.
Balancing his career and family life is a priority for Rod, who revealed in a candid interview with ITV’s Lorraine that he schedules his tours around his children’s holidays. “I have eight kids altogether, including two youngsters. I plan my tours around their school breaks,” he shared. “This weekend, we’re heading to Florida as I kick off my US tour while the kids are on holiday.”
Staying fit is a key part of Rod’s routine, which helps him keep up with his younger children, Aiden and 12-year-old Alastair. “I work out regularly. I’ve always loved playing football, though I do it less now. But I believe in staying active, drinking lots of water, and occasionally enjoying a glass of wine or a nice evening sherry,” he explained.
Rod also reflected on the challenges his older children faced while he was on the road. He admitted that his hectic touring schedule led to some tension with his eldest children, Kimberly, 38, and Sean, 37. “When they were young, I was touring constantly, and they didn’t get to see much of me. There were some bad feelings because of that,” he confessed. “I told them, ‘I wasn’t out partying every night—I was working hard to get out of a million-dollar debt.'”
Despite decades in the music industry, Rod has no plans to slow down anytime soon. “Everything ends eventually,” he acknowledged, “but I love what I do. To get on stage and make people happy is a gift from God, and I cherish it.
