If anyone mentions the band Queen then there also will be mentioned the name Brian May. Along with Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor, Brian formed or co-founded the popular British rock band back in 1970. There is no doubt that Freddie is the most recognized of the band because he was the frontman and the lead vocalist of the band. However, Brian May’s popularity is no less.

May is the lead guitarist of Queen and of course as mentioned the co-founder. Furthermore, he was also responsible for writing several of Queen’s hit songs including We Will Rock You, Who Wants To Live Forever, The Show Must Go On, and more.

We don’t even have to say why the Queen is one of the greatest and most popular bands of all time. After all, the band was full of talented veteran musicians. Since Brian is the lead guitarist of the band he also wrote guitar solos for the band. However, May was in an interview with Guitar Player last year and it seems that he has regret and his regret is about his friend and Queen’s vocalist Freddie Mercury. So what does he regret about Freddie? we will find out further in the article.

Brian May regrets about Freddie Mercury

As mentioned Brian and Freddie were really good friends as well as bandmates and they would try their best to push each other to do better and try out various new things. And as a friend, we care about each other and sometimes we get our friends something.

Just like that one day Freddie came to the studio and handed May a cassette. May was really surprised and really grateful to his friend because in the cassette Freddie had put all the guitar solos they had ever played. However, in the interview, Brian disclosed that he can’t find the cassette now which was a very lovely gift from his late friend before his death.

In the interview, May was asked if creating a solo for Bohemian Rhapsody was challenging for him and Brian said that it was magic and all of them would “stick to each other” and push each other to always try new things. Furthermore, he also talked about the time when Freddie got him the cassette. He said, “You know, one day Freddie had a big smile on his face when I came into the studio, and he popped a cassette into the player and said, Listen to this, darling. This is going to surprise you.”

It was the cassette where Freddie put all the solos he found and really it was surprising to Brian. However, now it has become one of the greatest regrets of the popular musician (Brian May). He said that he can’t find the cassette now and it is his “big regret.” While talking about his regret he further said, “I never throw anything away. I’m a bit of a hoarder. So it ought to be somewhere. But Freddie was very proud of the stuff that I’d done and that we’d done together.”

That cassette was really important because first, it was Freddie’s gift, and second, all of Brian’s solo works were there and it is the really regrettable thing that May can’t find the cassette now. However, he also mentioned that he never throws anything so we can at least say that there is still a hope that May will someday find the cassette, and if he does we would love nothing more than for him to share that stuff with all of his and Queen’s fans.
