Early this year, Chris Martin the leader of the British rock band Coldplay announced that they will retire in 2025 which was really shocking news for the fans. While it was just a rumor at first, Martin later confirmed the news on BBC Radio 2. However, Martin also confirmed that they would release three more albums before retirement.

Coldplay recently shared on his Twitter account that they are currently recording new songs which will most probably be included in their new album.

New songs Coldplay is currently recording

As mentioned, Coldplay announced on Twitter that they are working on a few tracks at the moment. they wrote, “Hello, everybody. I hope you’re all doing really well. Here are some things I love at the moment.” they then listed a few tracks that Martin liked and shared them with the fans.

These are the songs he mentioned on his Twitter, “Yun (feat. Erykah Badu,) – ‘RM,’ Erykah Badu – ‘Tyrone’ (live), Bayka – ‘She Like It,’ the 1975 – ‘Looking For Somebody (To Love),’ Inhaler – ‘Totally,’ Kyoka – ‘Hurt People,’ Stormzy – ‘Hide & Seek.”

At last, he wrote, “We are in the studio, we send you all much love.”

These songs most probably are from their new upcoming album. Furthermore, this might not be the last song from the band because Martin stated that they will release three more albums before retiring in 2025, and they haven’t released any albums since the announcement.

One of their three albums will be a musical

Back on October 2021, Coldplay released their ninth studio album titled Music of the Spheres and it was a big hit as they received plenty of positive reviews from critics and fans. They then announced Spheres World Tour to promote their newly released album which started on March 18, 2022, in San José, Costa Rica and will end on 19 July 2023 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Furthermore, when Chris Martin appeared on The Ellen Show a few months ago, he was asked if the band would continue to make music until 2025, to which Martin replied that it was the right thing to do.

Ellen asked Martin, “I have to ask you this because supposedly this main headline I didn’t hear about. However, I heard this morning that you said Coldplay will only make three more albums by 2025 and one of them was gonna be a musical. That’s it?”

And Martin replied, “Yeah. I think that’s what feels right to us. I think we’ll keep touring and moving and always be together as a group of musicians. Just the story of our albums ends then. Like ‘Harry Potter’ finishes at a certain point.”

He confirmed that although they will retire from making new music, Coldplay still will keep touring together as a band. That means the band is not breaking up nor will they start making solo music.

He then said that they want to do a movie musical and he also jokingly stated East Side Story. Martin then said that they had the privilege of following what they feel right and he also stated that everyone should do it.

“I think, over time, we’ve learned… we’re so lucky that we get to just follow what feels right, nd that’s what we’ve decided to do. That’s why our music changes a bit: sometimes we lose people and we get other people in. But, really, it’s become so fun since we just had the privilege of following what feels correct. Everybody should do it,” Martin explained.
