Cyndi Lauper has never relinquished her idiosyncratic fashion sense, which she showcased once again on Tuesday, donning a strikingly flamboyant suit during her performance at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. At 69 years of age, the American pop icon is currently touring Australia, lending her support to the British rock legend, Rod Stewart.
In the midst of a dynamic presentation, Cyndi adorned a vibrant multi-hued suit, embellished with an extremely vivid paisley pattern. She was also sporting a colossal purple mohawk, and appeared to be thoroughly enjoying herself as she performed her most popular tunes.
During one segment of her performance, Cyndi showcased her musical prowess by playing a recorder and also engaged in a playful act of wriggling on the floor while delivering melodious vocals into the microphone.
She opted for an unadorned makeup look but punctuated it with purple lipstick and eyeshadow that impeccably matched her hair.
The songstress gained international recognition in the 1980s with her chart-topping hit “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”
In a recent interview with AARP The Magazine, the Grammy awardee candidly expressed that she no longer frets about being a celebrity of immense stature, stating “One cannot spend their entire life preoccupied with the pursuit of fame.”
Emphasizing that pursuing one’s passion is paramount, she asserted, “If relinquishing some fame is necessary to attain your desires, then one ought to heed the calling of their heart.”
Despite not being fixated on fame, Cyndi Lauper continues to reign as an iconic musical figure, scaling new heights in her career.
In recent times, she received a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame, launched a country album titled “Detour,” and composed the Tony Award-winning Broadway production “Kinky Boots” in 2012.
Sticking to her roots, the New York City native still flaunts her trademark multi-colored hairstyles that propelled her to pop culture stardom three decades ago.
Confidently revealing, “I have attained an age where I can sport pink hair or blue hair if I choose to,” the songstress exhibits a bold fashion statement that remains unaltered by the passage of time.
