Eddie Van Halen’s death and legacy

If you have been listening to Van Halen and are a fan of Halen then you must know that he started drinking alcohol and smoking when he was 12 years old. Later he also started doing drugs and soon he became an alcoholic as well as a drug addict. After struggling with drugs and alcohol, Halen went to a rehabilitation center in 2007 and since 2008 he left drinking.

Later he also got tongue cancer and according to Halen, he got cancer because he always holds a guitar pick in his mouth. He explained, “I used metal picks – they’re brass and copper – which I always held in my mouth, in the exact place where I got the tongue cancer. … I mean, I was smoking and doing a lot of drugs and a lot of everything. But at the same time, my lungs are totally clear. This is just my own theory, but the doctors say it’s possible.”

His cancer was cured in 2002 however, he later got throat cancer and in 2019 he was hospitalized. However, it was not cancer that killed him, on October 6, 2020, Haled died because of a stroke, he was 65 years old at the time of his death. He died at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California.

It was truly heartbreaking and shocking news for the world, especially for his fans. Although he has died his music lives and it will last forever. In their new album Return of the Dream Canteen, Red Hot Chilli Peppers paid tribute to Eddie. Just like this, many musicians paid tribute to the legend on various social media platforms.

After Eddie’s death his band Van Halen got disbanded. Halen’s son Wolfgang revealed on The Howard Stern Show that the band will no longer continue. He further explained, “You can’t have Van Halen without Eddie Van Halen.” Certainly, Eddie Van Halen has left this world, but he will always remain in our memories and he will continue living through his music forever. Halen’s son Wolfgang Van Halen followed his father’s steps and has become a musician. He was the bassist of his father’s band Van Hallen and even though the band will now not continue, we are sure that Wolfgang will keep his father’s legacy alive. Not only he but all the members of Van Halen will keep Eddie’s legacy alive.

It still breaks our hearts to think about Eddie’s death however, everything must come to an end, and although he passed away, his memories with us will remain as long as we live. Furthermore, as we mentioned above he will also live forever through his music. He introduced us to soul-touching songs and inspired various guitar techniques, truly he was such a legend. He will forever be in our hearts and will always remain so, we really miss him and always will be.

With the exceptions of Happy Trails and Big Bad Bill, the first six albums were all killer with no filler. Think about it. SIX ALBUMS!! I have them in my car’s six disc carousel and Best Of in the head unit for Me Wise Magic and Can’t Get This Stuff No More. There’s no other artist or band that can hold a candle to the Mighty VAN HALEN.
