In 1985, the American rock group Jane’s Addiction was founded in Los Angeles, California. Drummer Stephen Perkins, bassist Chris Chaney, guitarist Dave Navarro, and vocalist Perry Farrell make up the group. Punk, industrial, heavy metal, and alternative rock are just a few of the musical genres that Jane’s Addiction famously combines.

During the Sprits On Fire Tour, fans were excited to see the band on the stage however, Navarro was missing from the scene. And now, the news has surfaced that Josh Klinghoffer, former guitarist for Pearl Jam and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, will fill in for Dave Navarro while he recovers from COVID-19 symptoms.

Jan’s Addiction released a statement stating, “We’d like to address the questions surrounding Dave and the upcoming Jane’s shows, As a band, we are in a great place, writing new music, and the bond is tighter than ever. We all hope Dave can be out playing with us; when he feels healthy and ready.”

It continued, “For the near future, our brother Josh Klinghoffer will jump in for the upcoming shows on the West Coast, South America, and some additional international shows, soon to be announced. We want to thank you all for being there with us over these thirty-some-odd years. You know, we’re going to keep throwing it down for you. Perry, Eric & Stephen.”

In November 2020, Dave Navarro, a former guitarist for the musical group Red Hot Chili Peppers, disclosed that he had COVID-19. Navarro posted the diagnosis on social media and explained that he was following the advice of public health professionals because he wasn’t feeling well. The time of Navarro’s diagnosis coincided with a spike in COVID-19 cases in the US. In addition to Tom Hanks, Idris Elba, and Robert De Niro, Navarro was one of many famous people to get the virus. He recovered from it shortly afterward but he stated in September 2022 that he had been struggling with the long-term effects of COVID-19.

Before performing at Lollapalooza in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Santiago, Chile, and So Paulo, Brazil on March 25, Jane’s Addiction is scheduled to begin their run of gigs in Bakersfield, California on March 5. After that, they will make more west coast visits. Since The Great Escape Artist in 2011, the group has been working on a new album that will be released in 2023.
