In a captivating moment at the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction, guitar icon Jimmy Page graced the stage, enchanting the audience with a live tribute to his idol, Link Wray. For the first time in nearly a decade, Page delivered a stunning rendition of “Rumble,” wielding his distinctive red double-neck Gibson SG. A clip of this mesmerizing performance can be found online.

Reflecting on the impact of Wray’s work, Page recounted his own teenage years, a time when he was just beginning to navigate the guitar. He recalled the profound impact of the raw power and fearless nature of Wray’s playing, describing it as the epitome of cool.

2014 marked the year Page last performed live, coinciding with his supervision of the remastered releases of Led Zeppelin’s initial three albums, enriched with unique and unheard content from their original recording sessions. This project was the kickoff to a larger plan to revamp all nine of the band’s studio albums, with Page overseeing the conversion of their rich analog sounds to high-resolution digital formats.

Meanwhile, Robert Plant, Page’s former bandmate from Led Zeppelin, also made a splash in the music world with his recent live rendition of “Stairway to Heaven” after 16 years. The haunting performance was part of a charity event in Oxfordshire, led by Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor, with Plant also delivering renditions of “Thank You” and “Black Dog.” Fans can relive Plant’s emotional “Stairway to Heaven” performance online.

The last time “Stairway to Heaven” echoed live from Led Zeppelin was during a 2007 tribute show at London’s O2 Arena, commemorating Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. This historic set was immortalized in the live DVD “Celebration Day.”
