L.A. Guns’ Tracii Guns Lists The Top 5 Greatest Rock Guitarists Ever

Tracii Guns, co-founder of L.A. Guns, recently responded to a query from one of his fans on Twitter by listing the five-rock guitarists whose playing style has most impressed him.

When a Twitter fan asked Guns for his personal list, the frontman responded with his top five while also elaborating on his decision-making process:

“1. Chuck Berry (Because without him, there’s no real link.)

2. Link Wray (Because without him, there are no real balls.)

3. Page (Knew exactly what to do with everyone else’s ideas.)

4. Hendrix (Forced his contemporaries to re-exam the electric guitar.)

5. Van Halen (Bingo! Still rock music but pushed it to the limit in a palatable way where the song was still the most important aspect of the music.)”

The rocker added a sixth name even though he was only required to mention five guitarists, writing:

“6. David Gilmour (Definition of basic but deadly.)”

Tracii Guns identified the guitarists that influenced his style in an interview with Guitar World a few weeks ago. The vocalist this time added Tony Iommi, Randy Rhoads, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck, Michael Schenker, Keith Richards, Joe Perry, and Dimebag Darrell to his list of influences in addition to the same names like Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, and Eddie Van Halen he named on Twitter.
