Although Jim Morrison rose to fame because of his band The Doors, later Morrison gained huge popularity than his band. It is sad that The Lizard King is no more with us, he was and is the biggest force in the rock music industry, however, along with several other musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and Janis Joplin, Morrison also died at a very young age of 27.
On December 12, 1970, The Doors performed live at A Warehouse in New Orleans which would be the last concert of the band. After their performance, Morrison decided to go to Paris with his girlfriend Pamela Courson. And on July 3, 1971, at around 6:00 a.m Morrison was found dead in his apartment’s bathroom by his girlfriend Pamela.
However, a few days before his death Morrison along with Pamela and their friend Alain Ronay went on a small trip to Saint-Leu-d’Esserent. And as per the reports, Ronay seems to be a photographer who took several pictures of Jim and Pamela. Moreover, Ronay shared the pictures with the public, and those are said to be the last ever pictures or photos of The Lizard King.
Why did Jim Morrison go to Paris?
Many fans have asked for years, why did Morrison go to Paris? well, we all are well aware that Morrison had an excessive drinking problem and frequently used psychedelic drugs. And The Guardian has reported that Morrison reportedly went to Paris to get clean. Furthermore, The Doors’ final concert was a disaster as Morrison forgot the words to songs later he even broke the microphone and walked off the stage.
Considering the fact that his drinking and drug problem created a big mess, it really might be the reason he flew to Paris. Furthermore, Morrison also left the US and flew to Paris to get away from certain of his friends. And when Morrison told his bandmate, co-founder of The Doors Ray Manzarek about his plan, he told Morrison, “What a good idea, man.” According to Ray, he wanted Morrison to get away from bad influences and he said about Morrison’s friends, “they were sucking up his energy, sucking up his essence.”
After that Morison left for Paris with his girlfriend and he liked it there. In fact, he liked Paris so much that when his band called him back in June, he told them that he will be in Paris for a few more days. However, he never returned. News of Morrison’s death started spreading and when his bandmates heard the news they did not believe it at first, guitarist of the band, Robby Krieger said, “I got a phone call and I didn’t believe it because we used to hear shit like that all the time – that Jim jumped off a cliff or something. So we sent our manager off to Paris, and he called and said it was true.”
Well, there are several conspiracies and several different stories regarding Morrison’s death, some suggest that he died in a Paris nightclub’s restroom and was transported to his apartment by two drug dealers. There are several other conspiracy theories out there, however, the fact is he died although we wish that he is still alive and happy somewhere.
