The Beatles have been around since the 60s and have inspired so many artists growing up and Oasis is not an exception. Manchester-based rock band Oasis is one of the most loved bands with a very huge following.

Formerly known as Rain, Oasis doesn’t shy away from mentioning the band’s biggest inspiration, ‘The Beatles‘. Noel Gallagher and his brother Liam Gallagher who were the biggest fan of the Beatles went on to make Oasis what it is today.

In the 1990s the brothers went on to create one of the most iconic bands which were deemed as successful as, ‘The Beatles’. The brothers themselves were very much inspired by The Beatles to create their music.

While the band broke up in 2009, they are still well-known for their musical talents. Noel and Liam both are very active in the music world even today.

Noel says that The Beatles are, “more culturally significant” than any other act.

The former member of Oasis, Noel Gallagher said that in the interview with Matt Wilkinson in the program Revolver Radio with Matt Wilkinson, an Apple Music Series which is celebrating the reissue of the 1966 album ‘Revolver’ by the Beatles.

Noel went on to say that The Beatles has always been a “level above” anyone else in the music industry.

During the interview, Noel was asked if he’s ever spoken about songwriting with other songwriters from the Beatles he negatively replied.

“No, I don’t really speak to other songwriters about songwriting because what would you say? I’m just of the opinion that everybody is the same; some people are just more talented than others.”

He went on to add, “I just see [The Beatles] as they’re kind of the same as me: I would imagine they don’t like talking about it. Although [Paul] McCartney is a massive Beatles fan, he’s like the biggest Beatles fan.”

“People will not accept that you don’t have a f***** clue about ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ or who that girl is or any recollection of writing it,” Gallagher adds, talking about his own famous confusion regarding one of his biggest songs. “They get really annoyed because it’s the song that saved their life, and you have, I f***** don’t know, I was waking up with a hangover, and there it was.”

“Ray Davies, Jagger and Richards, and all the ones that we love we’ve all written culturally significant songs in youth culture anthems. But the thing is if people say, so what is it about the Beatles? It’s just like, they’ve done it more. Their songs are more culturally significant and they did more of them. and they’re just, yeah, they’re a level above. And McCartney and Lennon are in it. Bob Dylan.”

After that you’re kind of like, everybody’s probably on par after that, I would say.”

Oasis who were inspired by the evergreen band, The Beatles, there has been a comparison between them for a very long time. And ever since the release of ‘Wonderwall’, there are even more of them.

He has said, “When Oasis started, we were so big we were compared to them size-wise and musically, embarrassingly, compared to them as well.

“(It’s embarrassing) because we weren’t as good as them.”

Noel said that they have always been an inspiration to him and follow them even in his songwriting.

He went on to say, “They influenced everybody who influenced everybody else, who influenced everybody that came and went.

“Their influence is absolute. I don’t know a single guy playing the guitar or writing songs that wouldn’t cite the Beatles as an influence.”

The deluxe issue of Revolver has released on October 28th on Apple Music.
