24 years ago, on the auspicious date of March 15th, 1999, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame beheld the induction of three titans of the melodic arts: Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel, all at once, on the very same day.

This cohort of ’99 was a glittering and illustrious event, with other prominent figures such as Curtis Mayfield, Dusty Springfield, Del Shannon, Gene Vincent, and the Staple Singers also inducted. It’s worth noting that McCartney’s enshrinement as a solo artist made him the second of the Beatles to receive such an accolade, following in the footsteps of John Lennon, who was similarly inducted in 1994.
