Sammy Hagar Would ‘Easily’ Sing David Lee Roth’s Parts In Van Halen Possible Reunion

Van Halen disbanded after Eddie Van Halen’s demise in 2020, but as fans, everyone has been itching to see a reunion. This would mean someone has to take up the mantle on the stage. David Lee Roth was the vocalist on their first five albums and left the group in 1985. That’s when Sammy Hagar came up to save the band.

When Eddie Van Halen passes away two years ago, Van Halen decided to actually part ways but now there are certain rumors about the band’s reunion. And recently Hagar spoke about it.

Sammy also commented how he could ‘easily’ sing David Lee Roth’s Van Halen songs ‘lying on his back’. In an interview with Growth TV, Hagar talked about his willingness to participate in the reunion project if it ever happens. Sammy said,

“Oh hell yes. I would be involved, and I would insist that Dave come along somehow. He’s not so friendly.”

He continued and said he could easily fill that part himself if David didn’t want to do it. Sammy continued, “He doesn’t play well with others and never has and never will, but if he didn’t want to do it, then, of course, I can always sing those songs. Those songs are easy. I sing those songs, lying on my back, smoking a cigarette, even though I don’t smoke.”

“That would be awesome. I would say that if Alex and Mike are in, Mike and I are really tight; Alex is a little quirky, and I don’t know what he wants to do, He probably doesn’t want to ever tour again without his brother. I wouldn’t blame him if he did.”

The interview also revolved around Wolf Van Halen. Sammy talked about his relationship with Wolf. He said,

“Wolfie is the guy, but I don’t think Wolfie wants to do that. I don’t communicate with Wolfie that much. I’m not really that close with Wolfie anymore since I was not in the band. When he was little, I was really close to Wolfie.”

Sammy also revealed that he is tracking Wolf’s progress. He added, “He’s doing a great job with his own band. He’s really making it. He’s making a carbon on a name for himself original, and I think the coolest thing he ever did was say, ‘No. I’m not going to try to fill my dad’s shoes. I’m going to go out and be Wolfie.’ He’s got his dad’s shoes on. He’s wearing it. He’s got his dad’s heart. He’s doing the right thing.”
The rumors of a reunion are still a rumor but if that ever happens we hope it doesn’t really fuel a quarrel between Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth. They both represented two different eras of Van Halen. And fingers crossed for a reunion because everyone desperately misses them.
