Barry Gibb led his brothers Robin and Maurice in a magnificent version of the Bee Gees’ 1978 song ‘Grease’ on stage in Las Vegas, while Olivia Newton-John sang along in the crowd.

The Bee Gees are famous for their spectacular live shows, and one night in 1997 will go down in history as one of the trio’s finest-ever performances.

Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb were on stage at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, performing for a crowded house. The concert was ultimately released as the live CD, One Night Only.

The three brothers begin to perform the legendary single ‘Grease’ from the film of the same name as Barry Gibb points into the audience in stunning footage from the night.
The spotlight then falls on Olivia Newton-John and her daughter Chloe Lattanzi, who are in the audience singing along to the iconic song. As the Bee Gees sang the song directly to Olivia, iconic scenes from the film Grease were shown on a large screen, with specially recorded vocals from Frankie Valli playing.

The audience was shown footage of Olivia Newton-John kissing John Travolta in Grease, in which the actress humorously covers her small daughter’s eyes.

The hit 1978 song was written by Barry Gibb specifically for the film Grease, where it became the title song, and was recorded and published by Frankie Valli.
The Bee Gees’ One Night Only CD included the three brothers performing a variety of classics from the 1960s through the 1990s.

‘Tragedy,’ ‘I Started A Joke,’ ‘Words,’ ‘Night Fever,’ ‘To Love Somebody,’ and Celine Dion guested on ‘Immortality,’ before the trio sang ‘Grease’ at the close of the night.
The Bee Gees and Olivia Newton-John have a lengthy history that dates back to a medley they performed in 1979, only a few months after Grease was released.

Olivia joined the Bee Gees, ABBA, and Rod Stewart for a medley of ‘Put A Little Bit Of Love In Your Heart’ at the Music for UNICEF Concert in New York, and she also sang a breathtaking duet of ‘Rest Your Love On Me’ with Andy Gibb.

Barry and Olivia remained close friends, and in 2009 they performed ‘Islands In The Stream’ at the Australian Sound Relief charity event to raise cash for people impacted by the Victorian bushfires earlier that year, and their most recent collaboration was released earlier this month. Barry Gibb’s Greenfields CD, a compilation of Bee Gees tunes re-recorded with country musicians, was released on January 8, 2021, and included the singer performing duets with old pals like Dolly Parton and Keith Urban. The singer teams up with Olivia Newton-John for an astonishing performance of his 1978 classic ‘Rest Your Love On Me’ on his third solo album, and first since 2016.
