Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler Announces New Song and Album

I’m excited to share that Mark Knopfler is making a comeback with his mesmerizing guitar skills. The ex-leader of Dire Straits is set to drop a new album titled “One Deep River,” kicking things off with the lead single “Ahead of the Game.”

This tune promises to enchant us until the album’s debut on April 12. Knopfler, known for his affinity for water themes and the sense of longing they stir, draws inspiration from his frequent journeys across the River Tyne. This, he remarks, is a nod to his youth, the constant cycle of departures and returns, and the deep-rooted emotions that tie us to our earliest memories. This powerful connection remains unbroken.

After stepping away from the limelight following his pivotal role in the rock scene of 2018, which included releasing a solo album and notably skipping Dire Straits‘ induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame without explanation, Knopfler left us puzzled.

His absence led to an unusual and somewhat chaotic ceremony, marking the first time in the Hall’s history that an induction speaker was missing. The intrigue of his decision still lingers, adding another layer to his enigmatic persona.
