Who in the world would not know about John Lennon, I mean this man is a legend. It has already been over four decades since the leader of the English rock band The Beatles died however, his popularity does not seem to end. He is still remembered for his iconic songwriting and musical abilities, named one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Lennon has written many songs and he had a very successful music career both as a solo artist and in a band. He was so successful that many iconic and legendary musicians like Freddie Mercury were inspired by Lennon. His songs were listed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and he also won the 1981 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

In this handy article, we will be looking into that one favorite song of Lennon from his band which he defended. So which song was it? well first of all there are a number of Beatles songs that are favorites of John including [I Am The] Walrus and Strawberry Fields but we are not here to talk about these songs. So which song is it then? find out further in the article.

John Lennon asked for Help

Back in 1970, Lennon was asked by Jann Wenner (Rolling Stone founder) what his favorite Beatles songs are. And Lennon replied, “I always liked [I Am The] Walrus, Strawberry Fields, Help, In My Life.” But the interviewer couldn’t help but interject. He yelped: Why ‘Help!’?”

Lennon then answered, “Because I meant it. It’s real.” Talking more about it Lennon said that he really wanted someone to come and help him. “The lyric is as good now as it was then, it’s no different, you know. It makes me feel secure to know that I was that sensible or whatever,” John explained.

John continued talking about the song and he also mentioned the writing process of his song Help. He said that he did not use any drugs when writing that song. He said that he was “aware of himself.” He further said, “That’s with no acid, no nothing… well pot or whatever. It was just me singing ‘help’, and I meant it, you know?”

This is something really important and it hit me really hard personally because just like me there are many people who think if we have wealth and fame we’ll be truly happy, however, Lennon had both wealth and fame but he still needed someone to help him.

Although the lyric of the song Help is really deep but simple, there was something Lennon did not really like about the song. Talking about the aspect Lennon did not like John Lennon said, “I don’t like the recording that much. The song I like. We did it too fast to try and be commercial.”

Whenever John has talked about this song he has also mentioned that he really needed and asked for someone’s help and he hoped for someone to see his pain. And here ladies and gentlemen is a very important lesson we often try to fight our demons by ourselves and hide our pain by putting on fake happiness but we have to keep in mind that just like Lennon we really need to ask for our friends’ help whenever we are going through something bad.

John Lennon was a legend and he still was very brave to ask someone to notice his pain and asked someone to help him so why should not we ask for help when we are in pain? we need to take lessons from the musician’s life not just listen to his music.
