The upcoming animated comedy “Agent Elvis” from Netflix will feature Matthew McConaughey as Elvis Presley, as shown in the series’ Monday morning promo.
According to the teaser for the adult animated series Agent Elvis, there will be a lot of blood and profanity. The main character is the King of Rock and Roll, thus it’s surprising that music isn’t actually included in the teaser. This show will follow Elvis Presley when he gets hired by a shady government agency to run espionage missions and kill bad individuals instead of singing.
The synopsis of the show reads, “Elvis Presley trades in his jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves – all while holding down his day job as the King of Rock and Roll.”
The show is co-created by Priscilla Presley and John Eddie. Along with Eddie, who acts as co-showrunner and writer, Mike Arnold serves as showrunner, head writer, and executive producer. Additionally, this is Sony Pictures Animation’s first animated series for adults.
The series is set to premiere on March 2023. In the teaser, we hear McConaughey preaching, “Every once in a while, a man accomplishes the impossible, All it takes is someone with a dream. Because when a man dreams, he can change the world.” Then, a character sees him and shouts, “Holy sh*t. F*cking Elvis!”. Elvis Presley appears in the new series as a famous performer by day and a vigilante by night.
The series was announced all the way back in 2019. Priscilla back then said, “From the time Elvis was a young boy he always dreamed of being the superhero fighting crime and saving the world! Agent King lets him do just that, My co-creator John Eddie and I are so excited to be working with Netflix and Sony Animation on this amazing project and getting the chance to show the world an Elvis they haven’t seen before.”
