AC/DC is one of the most iconic and influential rock bands of all time. The band was founded by Malcolm and Angus Young brothers in 1973 in Sydney. They are regarded as some of the most influential musicians in rock music and have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide. The group gained popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s because of their traditional hard rock sound, which featured solid vocals and pounding guitar riffs.

Angus has been the frontman of the band and is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He is also known for his iconic schoolboy outfit and wild stage performances. He has lent his unique style and energy to the group. Some of their most well-known songs, including “Highway to Hell,” “Back in Black,” and “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” were penned by him.

Back in the day while starting out, they realized they had to be noticed to be big. For that, they needed great costumes. Malcolm also wanted their band to work out this time as before that, he had already dismissed two bands. That’s why Malcolm went for an airman’s jumpsuit, drummer Peter Clack wore a harlequin costume, frontman Dave Evans went with a glam rock peacock, and bassist Rob Bailey wore a cop’s outfit. When it came to Angus, he wore his school uniform. Margaret, the brother’s sister recalled Angus picking up a guitar without changing out of his school uniform. Which is why she let him, her son’s Ashfield Boys High uniform.

When it comes to performing in the schoolboy uniform, he revealed that he was very nervous. He remembered his performance in 1974 which was the first time he tried the schoolboy uniform. While talking with Guitar World he remembered,

That was the most frightened I’ve ever been on stage but thank God, I had no time to think. I just went straight out there. The crowd’s first reaction to the shorts and stuff was like a bunch of fish at feeding time –all mouths open. I had just one thing on my mind: I didn’t want to be a target for blokes throwing bottles. I thought if I stand still I’m a target. So I never stopped moving. I reckoned if I stood still I’d be dead.

He has also shared he received advanced from women due to his uniform. He said, “Because of the schoolboy uniform, some women have tried to mother me — They think I’m cute because I’m so short. Some women would come up and make, er, bold statements, but I don’t know why. There’s nothing sexy about a schoolboy, is there?”

That is quite a thing to happen. As of now, Angus is the only original member of the band. Even after all this time, he still hops on the stage with his iconic schoolboy uniform and duckwalks. He is truly one of the greatest rock artists of the original rock era. Young has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 and has won multiple awards for his contributions to music.
