What did George Harrison say to Pattie Boyd in their final meeting?
As mentioned, in 2001 Harrison went to see Pattie Boyd which would be the last time they ever meet. Talking to People magazine, Boyd said that Harrison bought some gifts to see her. After that, they played music and had a conversation. She also revealed that it was really nice to see him after a long time however, she was also worried for Harrison because she could sense that Harrison did not have much time left.
She said, “He came with some little gifts and we played music and had some tea, it was lovely to see him, but I knew he wasn’t well. I sensed that he wanted to see me rather than leave it too late.”
Furthermore, Boyd explained that they were in a garden having tea and talking about various stuff. Harrison then noticed the blooming of flowers and wobble, however, what George told Boyd stayed with her even after his death these years.
Watching the flowers wobble Harrison told Boyd, “The flowers are shivering.” She explained in the interview that Harrison was the only one who would say that. Many fans have stated that George said it because he knew he is going to die soon meaning his perspective towards life as well as things around him changed. And surely Pattie’s doubt was right because a few months after their meeting Harrison left his earthly body.
Moreover, talking about Boyd and Harrison, they first met when Boyd was 19 years old in 1964 on the set of the movie A Hard Day’s Night. And not long after their romance started and they ended up getting married. And she has written about her life with Harrison in her book Pattie Boyd: My Life in Pictures.
She is also the inspiration behind the Beatles’ song Something. However, their married life could not last long as they got divorced after Harrison cheated on her with some other woman. Furthermore, she is not the only inspiration behind Something but she also inspired Eric Clapton to write legendary songs like Layla, Bell Bottom Blues, and Wonderful Tonight.
After her divorce from Harrison, she married Clapton who was a good friend of Harrison however, George was really positive about their relationship. She revealed that Harrison told her that he was glad Clapton was with her, not some idiot. Sadly her relationship with Clapton also did not work out and a few years after their marriage they were divorced. Eric even told in an interview that he regretted it.
