Over the years many people have impersonated their favorite artists, likewise, there are people who have tried and impersonated the Queen’s former lead vocalist and founding member Freddie Mercury. Be it his vocals or talking styles or even his outfits, fans have left nothing more to impersonate.

Furthermore, even though there are several outfits fans wear to impersonate Freddie, his swagger look from the live aid still remains the most iconic. A plain tank top, jeans, Adidas sneakers, belt, and armband with a mustache. There is no denying that is Freddie’s most famous and iconic look.

And recently, a four years old Derry girl went viral with her amazing impersonation of Freddie’s iconic live aid look. So who is this cute little girl? why did she dress up and impersonate the legendary music artist Freddie Mercury? find out everything below in the article.

A cute little girl impersonates Freddie Mercury

As mentioned a four years old little girl named Robyn Long from Ireland became viral after dressing up as Queen’s Freddie Mercury. Below is the video, we can see Robyn impersonating Freddie and giving a performance of a lifetime at Ebrington Square. Furthermore, the video is edited and mixed with the Queen’s live aid performance which is really great.

Apparently, it was her mom and uncle who dressed her up as Freddie. Later, Robyn’s grandfather James Burke posted the video on social media and it suddenly went viral. However, this is not the first time she has impersonated someone, she dressed up as Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker last year. Furthermore, she has also dressed up as Chucky.

According to her mother Dawn Long, it all started when Robyn was just two years old. Dawn stated that when Robyn was two years old she dressed her up as Edward Scissorhands for Halloween. Likewise, Robyn really liked the Joker’s dance and tried to copy him.

She later said that Robyn loves Freddie Mercury, she said, “She really loves Freddie Mercury, we have his CD in the car and she sings away to his songs, it’s so funny. John was in Derry for Halloween so we decided to dress her up and take her to Ebrington to do that video. The video is so cracker and I was blown away by the number of people who saw it and commented on it.”

Moreover, Dawn said that although she is the one who made the costumes, it was her daughter Robyn who got into the character. She also revealed that it takes her months for making costumes however, watching the cute little girl, it seems that all her hard work was worth it.

She said, “I made the costumes myself but she really gets into the character. I could be doing her costume eight months before Halloween. My husband Gerard always tells me I’m mad when I’m working on it for so long but he would be the first to tell me how class it is too! People were laughing at her doing the Joker but she didn’t get annoyed or play up, she was able to just do it and she was only three, then.”

Bruce Springsteen’s career is a prime example of greatness. With over five decades of music, live performances, and poetic approaches to lyrics, he is the originator of heartland rock. With all this, we believe there isn’t much to achieve in the world of music for him. Bruce has been straightforward in producing albums and has always shown his willingness to experiment.

Springsteen has always been identified as a rock n’ roll veteran with many albums and contributions. With over 20 albums in his hands, Springsteen has a standard of excellence in him. This is a massive accumulation of his art and we are glad about how true he is to himself. His rise came with him being himself and drawing influences from his heroes.
With so many albums to his name, let’s take a look at Bruce Springsteen’s Albums ranked out of greatness.

Bruce Springsteen Albums Ranked in Order of Greatness

Lucky Town (1992)

Lucky Town is the tenth studio album by Springsteen and was released on March 31, 1992, alongside Human Touch. In 1989 after the E Street Band was dissolved, Bruce moved to California to start a new life. His location and band changed along with his performance.

Released on the same day as ‘Human Torch’, both the records weren’t that significant. It is often times overlooked. The album felt really inauthentic with Springsteen on the rockier side of the release.

High Hopes (2014)

High Hopes didn’t really live up to its name. This album was a collection of unreleased songs, covers, revivals, and re-recordings. It was his eighteenth studio album and was released on January 14, 2014.

This album felt forced and was the only album that seemed less inspirational. This was not really a bad album but lacked the elements of his persona. ‘The Wall’ and the electrified version of ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ were the ones that stood out from the album.

Human Touch (1992)

Released on the same day as Lucky Town, this album wasn’t that remarkable. The whole album sounds squeezed. Same here, the originality of Springsteen cannot be seen in this album, and is too dominant. This album didn’t manage to produce a song with a significant story.

Human Touch came with a touch of soft rock essentials along with synth-driven sound. While it may not be that significant, the title track is often neglected but is a major classic. With the message, “I just want someone to talk to, and a little of that human touch.”

Working on a Dream (2009)

With the push of 60s pop, Working on a Dream is a romantic album on exploration. This is one of his less memorable albums and is distinctively unknown. The album has revolved around the orchestrated studios. During this period, he was on a great run with great albums, but this didn’t really meet up expectations.

Even though this was not a great album, it has fulfilled its purpose as its romantic, soppy, and light. Also the song ‘The Last Carnival’ is a lovely ode to E Street Band keyboardist Danny Federici. Working on a Dream was released on January 27, 2009, and was the sixteenth studio album.

Wrecking Ball (2012)

Wrecking Ball is an album that goes toward the stories of people struggling with economic problems. It was released on March 6, 2012, and is his seventeenth studio album. This album is an experimented list of songs with new tools.

All the albums by Bruce at this time were gloomy and somber. Even though the album and the lyrics don’t resonate with each other, Wrecking Ball addresses the financial mismatch that happened in 2008. The first half of the album may not be that fascinating but the second half really delivers with songs like ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’ and ‘We are Alive.’

Only The Strong Survive (2022)

This is the latest album to fall under his grasp. With over 50 years of experience, Bruce has his place secured as one of the most influential rock artists. Only The Strong Survive is the Twenty-first studio album and was released on November 11, 2022.

This album is a collection of classic soul songs and covers. With songs like ‘Do I Love You’ by Frank Wilson and ‘Hey Western Union Man’, this feels like the relics of the past. Springsteen is a wonderful artist and this album is just him continuing his work. Only The Strong Survive is a great mix of everything, from classics to his best songs.

Joni Mitchell is one of the prominent singer-songwriters to emerge from the 1960s. She mostly revolved around her main genre folk music and is mostly known for her stark lyrics. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and is known as one of the greatest songwriters.

Joni Mitchell surely had a different element in her when it came to songwriting. She had the ability to open her heart to everything that happens to a human. Another artist who shares such similarities with her is Neil Young. In the early 70s, Joni was friends with many of her contemporary artists, and Neil Young is one of them.

They met in their early days in the Canadian folk scene. Joni met Neil Young in late 1964 at the ‘Penny Farthing’ in Toronto’s Yorkville district. Later on, they became two of the most defining voice in the history of the folk and rock music scene. Neil worked his way out and came to America to find fame. Whereas, Joni found her fame when her songs were recorded by Judy Collins and Gordon Lightfoot.

Later on in her career, Mitchell wrote a song about Young. In 1968, she introduced ‘The Circle Game’ was about him on-stage. She commented, “This is a song that’s been recorded by a couple of friends of mine, so maybe you know it a little better than the other ones. And if you do – if you know the chorus, wow – just sing along, cause it’s a chorus about people and growing old and growing young and carousels and painted ponies and the weather and the Buffalo Springfield.”

Young also returned the favor in 1973. It was during a gig in Bakersfield, California. He sang,

“SWEET JONI
Sweet Joni from Saskatoon
There’s a ring for your finger
It looks like the sun
But it feels like the moon

Sweet Joni from Saskatoon
Don’t go, don’t go too soon,
Who lives in an old hotel
Near the ancient ruins

Only time can tell
Only time can tell
Go easy the doorman says
“The floor is slippery, so watch your head”
This message read
Sweet Joni from Saskatoon”

They met first when they were youngsters. They took a different path and finally found stardom. They also had many similarities among them. Neil Young also once explained why Joni is one of the greatest artists of this generation. Young recalled in an interview, their very first meeting. It was during his appearance on the YouTube talk show, The Zach Sang Show. He said,

“I was 20, and she was about 22, or maybe one year older than me. I think we were in Winnipeg at the 4th Dimension Club. I was listening to her, I was local in Winnipeg, she was just passing through on the road with her husband, Chuck. They were a duo playing, and we talked a little bit, I got to know her and played her ‘Sugar Mountain’. I told her I’d just been in Toronto and played that for a group called The Dirty Shames.”

Young also added that they are still in contact. In the end, he commented, “I love Joni. She’s wonderful. She’s one of the greatest artists of our generation. She may be the greatest artist of our generation.”

Jimi and Keith are two of the most notorious people ever to exist in the rock world. Both the hitmakers in the music scene had a rich history together. Jimi Hendrix changed the way the guitar was played back in the late 60s, and The Rolling Stones were already a big thing back then.

There are not that many documents that reveal their friendship. But despite that, it is a known fact that they were good friends. Back in the 1960s, Hendrix had just come to London, whereas Richards was already a star. Hendrix was also building his way up and was starting to make his name in the blues scene in London.

Most musicians got hold of Jimi Hendrix after he was a solo artist. But Keith knew about the guitarist when he was still playing in Curtis Knight band. Keith revealed, “I first heard him on the road with Curtis Knight, and then I used to see him play at a club called Ondine’s in New York. I thought I was watching someone just about to break. But as far as his being a guitar player, I mean, I was disappointed when the records started comin’ out.”

“Although, given the time and that period, and given the fact that he was forced into an “English psychedelic bag” and then had to live with it because that’s what made him . . . one of the reasons that he was so down at the period when he died was because he couldn’t find a way out of that. He wanted to just go back and start playing some funky music, and when he did, nobody wanted to know.”

Keith also talked about how that wave of success made Jimi do things he shouldn’t have done. He also revealed that he knew Hendrix well in person. “Everybody got sort of carried on this tidal wave of success for doing outlandish things until what they were really known for was the outlandishness of what they were doing, and not really what they were doing. I mean, even with Satanic Majesties, I was never hot on psychedelic music.”

By the period of his demise — to put it politely — he was at the point of totally putting down and negating everything that had made him what he was. I mean all the psychedelic stuff. He felt like he’d been forced to do it over and over again so many times, just because that’s what he was known for. When I first heard him, he was playing straight-ahead R&B.”

Before all this, one who discovered him was Linda, Keith Richards’ then-partner. In an interview with The Observer in 2013, she said, “My initial thought, of course, was Keith must see this. I was determined that he should be noticed, get a record deal, and blow everybody’s mind. I knew it was all there so I went for it.”

Keith Richards has also commented about Hendrix in a way no one else has. Back in 2010 during an interview with San Diego Tribune, he disclosed how Hendrix ruined the guitar. He said, “One guy can ruin an instrument. Jimi Hendrix, bless his heart – how I wish he was still around – almost inadvertently ruined guitar.”

Because he was the only cat who could do it like that. Everybody else just screwed it up, and thought wailing away (on the guitar) is the answer. But it ain’t; you’ve got to be a Jimi to do that, you’ve got to be one of the special cats.”

Seems like Linda also lend Hendrix a guitar before his stardom. Lina spent most of her time living in New York and that’s when she discovered Jimi. She also helped him by introducing him to Chas Chandler. One time, she also lend him Richard’s guitar as he couldn’t afford one. She disclosed, “It was the night he smashed up a white guitar. I was beside myself. I’d lent him a guitar belonging to my boyfriend and there he was smashing one up on stage! I was absolutely livid with Jimi because to me that’s the most un-cool thing to do.”

Dave Grohl joined the iconic rock band Nirvana in 1990. Sadly, Grohl’s journey with the band would come to an end just four years after he joined them, in 1994. Of course, the reason was the passing of Nirvana’s lead vocalist and guitarist, Kurt Cobain. Although four years were not much, Grohl had built a deep bond with his bandmate Cobain, and naturally, after his death, his heart was filled with sadness and shattered into pieces.

Grohl did not give up even after Kurt died and formed a band himself which we all are aware of, Foo Fighters. However, he never forgot his pal. In fact, following Cobain’s death, Grohl made a huge revelation.

Dave Grohl reveals how he felt after Kurt Cobain died

It’s no secret that Grohl not only found himself in a music band that pushed him to become an excellent musician by utilizing his incredible drumming skills, but he also found himself a very good friend, Kurt Cobain. Many fans may not be aware of this but, Kurt was someone very special to Grohl, and given the fact that Kurt was the one who really trusted and believed in Grohl’s songwriting ability, it makes sense why he was special to Grohl.

He was someone who could be considered a true friend, and can you imagine receiving the devastating news of your friend’s death? Well, Grohl did and certainly, it hit him hard.

It is reported that Kurt committed suicide by gunshot on April 5th, 1994, although his body was found three days after on April 8. After receiving the news, Grohl was shocked and saddened. He stated that he could not even find any words to describe how much pain he was in.

Grohl even turned his back on music after his death as it only reminded him of his friend. He said, “For a while, after Kurt died, I couldn’t even listen to music, I hated turning on the radio for fear that I’d hear a Nirvana song or any sort of sad music. Anything melancholy just made me so depressed.”

However, it was also music that healed and helped him get over Cobain’s death. Grohl continued, “I just didn’t really want to hear any music. Then I realized, ‘Oh wait, it’s music that’s going to heal me. What am I doing? I should be listening to music. I should be making music that will make me feel better’. And it did.”

Dave Grohl’s revelation after Kurt Cobain’s death

As previously stated, Grohl was devastated by Cobain’s death, and while he was saddened by the fact, it was also a huge revelation to him. He stated that he realized Kurt was no longer here, he couldn’t wake up, make a cup of coffee, or turn on the radio.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Grohl said, “Waking up that morning and realizing, ‘Oh, sh*t, he’s not here anymore. Like, I get to wake up, and he doesn’t. I’m making a cup of coffee. And he can’t. I’m going to turn on the radio. And he won’t.’ That was a big revelation to me.”

He further said, “I think also in life, you get trapped in crisis, where you imagine there’s no way out. When really, if you dare to consider that crisis a blip on the radar, it’s easier to push through. And, yeah, I was just like, ‘I don’t want anyone to have that feeling that I had that morning.”

Certainly, it was hard for all the members of Nirvana including their drummer Dave Grohl, and as mentioned above, even though he turned his back on music, it was also music that helped him with Cobain’s passing.

The Rolling Stones has to be one of the most prominent bands in the world, still to this date. The band has a long history that spans over 60 years. They were unlike any other bands in the world but were united by one common factor. The connection with drugs.

The Rolling Stones and Drugs go hand in hand. Back in the day, their substance abuse was way too much and it even caught the attention of the Metropolitan Police. Due to this they started a campaign against the band and made them the villains. Still, the band was showing off their abuse of substances publically.

And then, things take a turn. They became lawless and their narcotic use also had an effect on their creativity and imagination. Mick Jagger shared that their album ‘Their Satanic Majesties Request’ was a total mess due to their drug use.

To elaborate…

Bill Wyman, the bassist of the band from 1962 to 1993 explained, “Every day at the studio, it was a lottery as to who would turn up and what – if any – positive contribution they would make when they did.” He also added,

“Keith would arrive with anywhere up to ten people, Brian with another half-a-dozen and it was the same for Mick. They were assorted girlfriends and friends. I hated it! Then again, so did Andrew (Oldham) and just gave up on it. There were times when I wish I could have done, too.”

Such an environment surrounded the band during the production of the album. This made the album very inauthentic. Mick Jagger talked about it and said that he isn’t really proud of that particular album. During an interview with Rolling Stone in 1995, he said, “The whole thing, we were on acid. We were on acid doing the cover picture. I always remember doing that. It was like being at school, you know, sticking on the bits of colored paper and things. It was really silly. But we enjoyed it. Also, we did it to piss Andrew off, because he was such a pain in the neck.”

About the album, he added, “I probably started to take too many drugs. Well, it’s not very good. It had interesting things on it, but I don’t think any of the songs are very good. It’s a bit like Between the Buttons. It’s a sound experience, really, rather than a song experience.”

“There’s two good songs on it: ‘She’s a Rainbow’, which we didn’t do on the last tour, although we almost did, and ‘2000 Light Years From Home’, which we did do. The rest of them are nonsense.”

The album fell short. But they have really admitted where they went wrong and why they fell short. Jagger’s realization of how their drug use affected them, is another thing we have to respect about him.

Phil Collins and Bruce Springsteen are two of the most highly influential musicians in the world. They have topped the charts and are the best sellers in their own music genres. But, along with similarities they also have some things that differentiate them.

Bruce is the originator of heartland rock. He combined the mainstream rock genre addressing working-class life in his lyrics. He is also known for his socially conscious lyrics and energetic stage performances. His long music career of six decades even honored him with the nickname the Boss. Bruce is loved all over the world for his musical talents and also his way of addressing many socio-political issues.

Whereas, Phil is a man of honesty. The drummer and lead singer of the rock band Genesis is known for spitting harsh truths. Back in the day, he blamed Led Zeppelin for poor performance during the Live Aid show. He has also criticized the Gallagher brothers on how they are rude and not talented. On top of that, he also hated Paul McCartney for his big ego. But, seems like Phil has a good perception of Bruce Springsteen.

In an interview with Playboy in 1986, “I’ve always liked the idea of Springsteen. Everyman’s music for everyman, you know; it captures the imagination of the workingman. Chuck Berry did the same thing. I don’t know that much about Springsteen’s older songs, but I like what he stands for. ‘Born In The U.S.A.’ is just fantastic. It has a great atmosphere, and it’s a great song.”

Phil acknowledged that he liked what Springsteen did as an artist. He admitted the working-class appreciation he had in his songs was admirable. Also, Collins said that he respected Bruce’s work. Sadly, he didn’t know about his early career. Phil also shared his favorite Bruce song which was ‘Born In The USA’.

Recently discovered materials give new insights into the 007 theme song Live and Let Die, involving Paul McCartney. The title song for the 1973 Roger Moore classic, was a big hit. Seems like a massive misunderstanding exists behind the song, which the recently discovered archive material explained.

The story told by McCartney and the former Beatles producer George Martin has all been about. How Paul almost got replaced on the track. But it is inconceivable that the James Bond producers wanted to replace Paul with another singer. It’s an old tale by now, that the producers of Live and Let Die wanted a female singer and not Paul.

A little bit of insight behind the song…

Back in 1973, Paul revealed, “I read the Live And Let Die book in one day, started writing it that evening and carried on the next day and finished it by the next evening. I sat down at the piano, worked something out and then got in touch with George Martin, who produced it with us. Linda wrote the middle reggae bit of the song. We rehearsed it as a band, recorded it and then left it up to him.”

Paul also talked about his love for the James Bond film series. He also reported that he was approached to contribute music to the 1971 movie ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ but couldn’t. When the new film was in production, he agreed to write the song for the film.

According to faroutmagazine, McCartney and Wings recorded the song at the end of the sessions for 1976’s ‘Red Rose Speedway’. The article also shed light on how the production company’s producer Harry Saltzman hoped for singer Shirley Bassey to record the final version. But Paul objected to it.

“The film producers found a record player. After the record had finished they said to George, ‘That’s great, a wonderful demo. Now when are you going to make the real track, and who shall we get to sing it?’ That’s when George said, ‘What? This is the real track!'”

In George’s 1979 memoir, Martin remembered playing McCartney’s record to Harry Saltzman who produced the Bond films. “He sat me down and said, ‘Great. Like what you did, very nice record, like the score. Now tell me, who do you think we should get to sing it?’ That took me completely aback. After all, he was holding the Paul McCartney recording we had made. And Paul McCartney was – Paul McCartney. But he was clearly treating it as a demo disc. ‘I don’t follow. You’ve got Paul McCartney,’ I said. ‘Yeah, yeah, that’s good. But who are we going to get to sing it for the film?’ ‘I’m sorry. I still don’t follow,’ I said, feeling that maybe there was something I hadn’t been told. ‘You know – we’ve got to have a girl, haven’t we?'”

And now to the real story behind…

This was the story everyone was familiar with, however, it was heavily misunderstood. Authors Allan Kozinn and Adrian Sinclair who released ‘The McCartney Legacy: Volume 1: 1969-73’, have recently discovered unpublished contracts in the archives of a university in the US which shows that the producers wanted McCartney all along.

Sinclair commented, “That became part of that collection of stories that George and Paul would tell over the years, and no one ever corrected it.”

Alongside it was the contracts that revealed McCartney negotiated a fee of $15000 for the creation of ‘Live And Let Die’, alongside his then-wife and Wings. He was also given publishing rights, including 50% of the song’s net profits.

There, Ron Kass, former head of the Beatles’ label Apple Records, said, “Paul McCartney has agreed to write the title song entitled Live and Let Die. He and his musical group Wings will perform the title song under the opening titles.”

Kozinn said, “So we can pretty definitively say that they were not going to replace Paul. One of the versions was going to be with Wings, which would play over the opening titles of the film and the closing credits. There would be a live version of the song performed during the club scene by BJ Arnau, a soul singer. When we saw those documents we couldn’t help but think it was just a misunderstanding.”

“Martin wouldn’t have been familiar with the terms of that contract, but Paul certainly would have. One of the things we discovered is that, if it’s a good story, Paul will go with it. He didn’t have any reason to assume that anybody would see that contract.”

Back in 2020, John Petrucci revealed that his former bandmate, Mike Portnoy would be playing on every track of his upcoming solo album, Terminal Velocity. And with such news in the air, everyone had one thing in mind, will we see Portnoy back in Dream Theater?

Well, John answered No.

Mike Portnoy and Dream Theater might be friends again but John says it’s bad to expect anything anytime soon. John has cleared up everyone’s dilemma. He says that his solo projects and the band’s stuff are totally different. Portnoy left the band back in 2010 and the fans have always wondered about his return.

In a recent discussion with host Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, Petrucci addressed the speculations of reunions. He commented, “I’ve been very vocal about this and outspoken and very careful about this to be clear with my intentions and Mike and I and our reuniting. The stuff that we are doing together with my solo stuff, with Liquid Tension Experiment, with Mike touring with me, this is its own thing, and Dream Theater is its own thing, and the history that we now have with [current drummer] Mike Mangini in the band for 12 years, it’s important for me to make sure that people don’t misunderstand this. Because it’s not good for anybody; that kind of weirdness or controversy, as we all know, it’s just toxic.”

He added, “Maybe I’m selfish but I feel so lucky that I get to do this with Mike and play live with him, play this instrumental music, record, and being in Dream Theater with Mangini, it’s like I’ve kind of been spoiled. I get two of the greatest drummers in the world to be able to play with. And I think it’s important for people to know that and to have that clarity. I really do.”

Mike was back on the drums with John, tours, and it could really have led towards something good but sadly it didn’t. Everything was very confusing. Sadly, all these are normal when the band is big. But the good thing is Portnoy is back on the drums.

Petrucci and Portnoy are really good friends. And looks like he talked about this matter all the way back in 2020 too. While talking with Metal Hammer Spain, he explained Mike Mangini is the current drummer of the band and his place is secured. John said,

“I understand where people are coming from with that. One of the concerns I had, a little bit – not musically at all – but about Mike, is I didn’t want people to get the wrong idea.”

“Mike Mangini has been in Dream Theater for 10 years now. How many albums did we do together already? Three? Plus two live albums. A lot of music and touring. So he’s the drummer in Dream Theater, and I didn’t want there to be any weirdness or misconception that, ‘Oh, this means that Mike’s [Portnoy] gonna come back.’ It’s just not the case. I think that for me, in a selfish way, I get the best of both worlds ’cause I get to play with two of the greatest drummers in the world, in Dream Theater and with my solo stuff. And it’s great for me as a guitar player – it’s wonderful.”

“I think it’s really important for everybody’s sake, for fans to understand this. I think it’s important, out of respect for both drummers – for Mike Mangini and Mike Portnoy – that there’s no misconstrued thing: ‘Oh, this means something else.’ This is him [Portnoy] playing on my solo album, which is a really happy moment for me. For me, I knew that that would kind of be part of the story – I accept that. So the best I can do is try to be as clear as I can. I don’t want people to get the wrong idea.”

“I don’t wanna create any drama or weirdness because it’s all positive. I made a solo album – finally, after 15 years – and I got my friend to play drums on it, who I haven’t played with in 10 years. So that’s the vibe.”

Seems like John has been saying the same thing for the past 2 years. Mike Mangini has been a firm member of the band since Portnoy’s departure from the band. The sudden reunion could totally hurt the band and looks like John understands it.

Watch John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy perform together on stage after more than a decade.

The English rock band Pink Floyd has always inspired millions with their unique psychedelic music. They are also always actively seen at charity events. Recently, they used their fame and music to help spread awareness about all the people suffering from the Russo-Ukrainian War.

Of course, their fans responded very well to the band’s endeavor. Pink Floyd’s new track titled “Hey, Hey, Rise Up” featuring Ukrainian musician Andriy Khlyvnyuk has raised quite a sum of charity money. The band announced on Twitter that the track has raised over £450,000.

Pink Floyd’s new song will benefit Ukrainian Humanitarian Relief

As mentioned above, the music band announced that they have “so far raised over £450,000 to help alleviate the suffering of the Ukrainian people.” They also stated that their new track Hey, Hey, Rise Up will benefit Ukrainian Humanitarian Relief. They wrote, “Pink Floyd’s new single, Hey Hey Rise Up – feat Andriy Khlyvnyuk – is out now worldwide. All proceeds of the song will go to Ukrainian Humanitarian Relief.”

Moreover, they also thanked all their fans who supported their endeavor to help people suffering from the war.

First Pink Floyd song since 2014

The charity song was released on April 8 this year, and it is also the first song by Pink Floyd in 8 years since 2014 when they released their double album titled The Endless River. Furthermore, we can also say that this is also completely new material from the band since their fourteenth studio album, which was released in 1994.

Moreover, Khlyvnyuk is said to be the inspiration behind this new song. Khlyvnyuk, who’s originally from the Ukrainian band BoomBox, was on a US tour when Russia invaded Ukraine. After the invasion, he immediately returned to his country to serve. Later, he recorded the Cappella version of the 1914 Ukrainian anthem.

As per the reports, David Gilmour was pretty sensitive about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and when Gilmour heard Khlyvnyuk’s song, he was moved and wanted to give it a Pink Floyd touch and release it to spread awareness and use this piece for the sake of humanity.

Back on December 23, Pink Floyd announced, “David Gilmour and Nick Mason have made this up to £500,000,” and it would be distributed to various humanitarian charities including Hospitallers Ukraine Aid. They also stated, “Let’s see what else we can do this winter. It would be great if you feel able to contribute to any of these charities directly.”

It is really inspiring to see a legendary band like Pink Floyd insistently working to spread awareness and help all the victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
