There are many guitarists around the world; however, not every guitarist makes it to the list of greatest guitar players. Eddie Van Halen is no stranger when it comes to the greatest guitarists, in fact, many have even called him the guitar god.

Well, most people haven’t met anyone who doesn’t say Van Halen was an elite guitarist. The legend inspired millions of people through his music. He influenced many artists in the music industry as well.

Def Leppard’s co-lead guitarist Phil Collen is one of the popular artists who says Van Halen was his source of inspiration.

In an interview, Collen revealed that he even got advice from the legend. This advice helped him become a better guitar player. So what advice did Van Halen give him? And what does Collen have to say about the late musician?

Just stick around for a while and we’ll answer all these questions.

What advice did Eddie Van Halen give Phil Collen about his guitar?

Collen met him for the first in the UK during Van Halen’s first UK tour. He gave advice about Collen’s previous guitar.

Collen said, “When I first met Eddie, it was on Van Halen’s first British headline tour at the Rainbow in Finsbury Park, London. He was so humble, considering he was such a monster player. We were talking about guitars and I had this Strat that my mum had gotten me for my 21st birthday. It was the main guitar I used later on the Hysteria stuff – whenever you hear anything on that record, it’s probably that. When I told him I had this beautiful Strat that I loved, he actually said, ‘You know, you won’t be happy until you’ve taken that pickup out and carved out space for a humbucker!

So what did Collen do after receiving insights from Van Halen?

The answer shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Well, considering that Van Halen was a guitar beast, it was the obvious choice. He made adjustments to his guitar and changed a few of his playing techniques just as advised.

Collen has also talked about the time when he heard Van Halen for the first time. He was left flabbergasted when he got a chance to hear Van Halen play for the first time. Phil loved watching Van Halen play live, for him it felt like Van Halen was a guitar himself.

Phil Collen Ranks Eddie Van Halen as the 2nd Best Guitarist

Collen thinks that the best guitar player to ever exist was Jimi Hendrix. He said that no one has ever come close to Hendrix’s guitar-playing abilities.

However, if he’d have to choose the best guitarist after Hendrix, he wouldn’t think twice before pointing toward Van Halen. Collen believes that Van Halen was among the very few artists who had such great control over his guitar. Listening to him felt like the guitar was singing.

Certainly, Eddie is one of history’s most influential musicians and he didn’t only influence Collen but there are many artists along with Justin Hawkins the founder and lead singer of the rock band The Darkness. Hawkins believes that Van Halen is the greatest and that nobody could ever surpass him.

Well, it is true that Van Halen nobody can take Van Halen’s place because there is no one like him. His band Van Halen is also quite popular that is even listed on Billboard Mainstream Rock List with the most number-one hits. It is really sad that the legendary musician has passed away.

On October 6, 2020, Eddie Van Halen passed away at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California.

Sadly, sources say that the cause of his death was a stroke. He was 65 years old at the time of his death. He died surrounded by his friends and family with millions of fans mourning after his demise.

If he was still alive then he would be sixty-seven years old today and clearly, he would still be touring and doing several live shows and concerts.

There are many rock bands around the world and back in the 60s or 70s, there were even more than there are today because as they say it was the rock music era. And one of the popular rock bands in the 70s was Motörhead which was formed in 1975. People have also listed this band as underrated because not many people know about this band.

And although the band is not as popular as Pink Floyd or other majorly famous rock bands, Motörhead has really amazing tracks and the band members to are really amazing with their music. This band was formed by Lemmy Kilmister, Lucas Fox, and Larry Wallis.

Lemmy is said to be a great vocalist and he is also a close friend of Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl. However, certainly, we are not here to talk about Grohl or his band Foo Fighters, we are here to talk about Lemmy. Many of his fans wanted to know who his favorite musician or singer was, so here we are, he talked about one of his favorite singers years ago and here we will discuss what he said and who his favorite singer is.

Who is Lemmy Kilmister’s favorite singer?

As mentioned above, Lemmy is a good friend of David Grohl and they have even worked on a few projects together, for example, in 2004, Lemmy gave hands to Grohl in his song Shake Your Blood from his album Probot. Later, they (Lemmyand Gilmour) along with Billy Gibbons worked together in 2008 for a Christmas song Run Rudolph Run.

Although the song was also recorded by Billy Gibbons, however, Gibbons was not present with Grohl and Lemmy but his parts were recorded and added later. In 2011 Lemmy was in an interview where he revealed that Gibbons’ vocals were added later, furthermore, he also revealed that he is a big fan of Gibbons and it was really unfortunate that the two couldn’t meet even after working on the same project.

In the interview, he was asked about his favorite musician and he replied, “Let me see now, let me think. Favorite musicians. You know, I like Billy Gibbons, though I’ve never played with him.” After hearing him the interviewer asked, “Didn’t you record the Christmas song ‘Run, Rudolph, Run’ with Gibbons and Dave Grohl?” Lemmy then answered, “oh yeah, we did that, but Billy wasn’t there. He put his lead on later. It was just me and Dave that did the tracks.”

Moreover, in the interview, he was also asked if he accepts his band as a metal band or not and he said that he does not accept it. He further said that he will not accept it because it is not true, his band is a rock band because they do various things that metal bands can’t do. And certainly, he talked about various other things and if you want to check what more he talked about then you can check the link we have added above.

Well, it was really unfortunate that he could not meet Gibbons, however, it is more unfortunate that Lemmy Kilmister, one of the great vocalists of the rock music industry is not with us anymore. A few years ago on December 28, 2015, Lemmy passed away in Los Angeles, California, United States.

He was diagnosed with prostate cancer however, he died of arrhythmia. Lemmy was 70 years old when he died, in fact, he died only four days after his seventieth birthday. Furthermore, many artists paid tribute to the late Motörhead vocalist, Grohl even went to his funeral and gave a little speech. And Motörhead got disbanded after his death, Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell announced the news a day after Lemmy’s death.

It is no hidden thing that most people who are in the music industry take drugs or consume alcohol. It has kind of been like a tradition or heritage to take substances. Especially the more popular someone is the more likely they end up either with drugs or alcohol. And the scene was no different back in the 60s, the rock music era.

As mentioned, the 60s was an era of rock and there were many talented music artists. However, with more artists, there were also many rivalries and beef. For example The Beatles and The Beach Boys, there were many rivals like them however, there were also those who really hated each other.

And that is where Jimi Hendrix comes in. If you have been following this artist then you might know that he really hated Jim Morrison. Well, first of all, Jimi Hendrix was an outstanding musician and one of the greatest guitarists, and Jim was the same, he too is considered one of the greatest musicians to ever live. So how did their beef start? what did Morrison do that Hendrix really hated him? keep reading this piece and you will find the answer below or further in the article.

Why Did Jimi Hendrix hate Jim Morrison?

Well, in short, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison along with a few other popular music artists met in a club however, their meeting was not pleasant because they got into a fight. Now, let’s discuss it in more detail. The vocalist of the Chamber Brothers, Lester Chambers explains that back in the day there was not much space in the club so musicians had to collaborate with whoever was present. He said, “You would come in off the street, go down four or five steps and you were in the club. It was a small space, maybe a hundred people at the most, so you got to mingle with whoever was there.”

And once Jimi Hendrix came to the club, he went to the stage and started setting his guitar. There was no problem until Morrison came. When he came to the stage he was already blindly drunk. As per one of the audiences named Michael J Weber, “When Morrison showed up he was very intoxicated, God knows on what, and he was slurring, very stoned.”

He also said that Morrison did not like Hendrix’s attitude. Later Jim went and sat next to Janis Joplin who was also present that day. And all of a sudden Morrison grabbed Joplin’s hair and pulled her to the ground. According to witnesses, Joplin then grabbed a bottle and hit him with it however, it did not injure him.

After that, he went to the stage where Hendrix was jamming with others. As per Lester Chambers, “He was so drunk he had to hold on to the mic stand, and every once in a while, he’d go: “Oooooooh! Waughhhhhh! Awoweee.”  Obviously, anyone would get irritated so was Hendrix who then said to the audience, “Ladies and gentlemen, you have heard the sound of Jim Morrison.”

It would only trigger drunk Morrison more so he started to mock Hendrix by getting down on his knees and screaming that he want to suck Hendrix’s d**k. A publicist of the Elektra Records who was present at the club later reported, “He was very loud. And Hendrix was still attempting to play. Morrison wouldn’t let go. It was a tasteless exhibition of scene-stealing – something Morrison was really into. To top it all off, Janis, who had been sitting in the back of the room, saw this happening and suddenly appeared at the edge of the stage with a bottle in one hand and her drink in the other.”

And guess what? yes, you are right, they all started fighting and clearly, Morrison had to take on both Hendrix as well as Joplin. They all had to be taken away from the stage and it is obvious that Morrison would get injuries, after all, he was blindly drunk and couldn’t even stand still properly, and on top of that, he had to take on both Hendrix’s and Joplin’s fierce punches. Now get it why Hendrix hated Morrison? well, if I was in Hendrix’s shoes then I would have hated him too, I mean anyone would don’t you think?

What comes to your mind when you hear the name, Pink Floyd? certainly, many might think of one of the leading rock bands of the 60s, but some might think of their songs or music, and some may think of the feud between David Gilmour and Roger Waters. Well, we all may think various things about the band. And as a fan, we all agree that Pink Floyd is one of the first British rock bands to create or make psychedelic music.

And since you are here that means you know Pink Floyd and obviously the frontman and vocalist, although Gilmour is not the founding member of the band, he later became the frontman of the band. He joined the band back in 1967 and replaced the original vocalist of the band Syd Barrett. Several popular magazines have listed him as one of the greatest guitarists including Rolling Stone.

Growing up, Gilmour was inspired by many musicians of his time, and one of the musicians who is Gilmour’s favorite as well as inspiration is the late Canadian musician Leonard Cohen. In an interview, Gilmour even revealed one of Cohen’s songs that he just can’t live without and what he said about the song, what song is it, and what Gilmour thinks of Cohen, all these questions will be answered in this piece.

What Leonard Cohen’s song can David Gilmour can’t live without?

As mentioned, Gilmour replaced Syd Barrett and became the new vocalist of the band. Years later David and Roger’s creative differences started to get into their friendship which led Roger to quit the band in 1985. And we all know that Gilmour and Waters’ feud is one of the biggest feuds in the music scene.

Well, a few years after Waters left the band, Gilmour appeared, I believe in 2003 on BBC Radio 4’s program Desert Island Discs where he talked about various things about his band and other musicians. And one of the questions Gilmour was asked in the interview was what the eight tracks that he couldn’t live without are.

And certainly, he mentioned eight tracks however, we will only discuss the fifth track he mentioned and yes it was a track from Leonard Cohen. Gilmour mentioned Cohen’s track “Anthem” is one of the tracks he can’t live without. Furthermore, he also opened up and said that Cohen is one of his favorite music artists. Talking about the track he said, “slight Islamic thing to it; the imperfection that all Islamic art has to have in it.”

Moreover, Gilmour also mentioned Cohen as one of the underrated guitarists in his interview with Rolling Stone a few years past. He said that he learned from his live shows that he is a really good guitarist. He said, “One thing I did learn is how bloody good he is as a guitar player, you tend to think of singer-songwriters as people who are just using the guitar accompaniment to carry the words that they’re doing, but Leonard was an absolutely brilliantly accomplished guitar player in fingerstyle things that I just cannot do. And of course, he’s about the best lyricist that I know of.”

Cohen recorded the song Anthem in actress Rebecca De Mornay’s house, which later the actress revealed in 2014 in an interview with Uncut. It is really sad that the Canadian musician is no more with us, he died on November 7, 2016, and he died of leukemia. However, his manager told that it just contributed but the real reason why he died was that he fell at his home, and later after he went to sleep he never woke up. His death was announced a few days after he died on November 10 and his funeral was also held on the same day.

Which rock band do you think is the most iconic and influential? I am sure everyone has their own opinion of which rock band is the most iconic however, I am also sure that many people would take the name of the fab four, The Beatles. According to Insider, the Beatles are the most popular band ever.

Formed back in the 1960s, the Beatles still are the UK Albums Chart record holder for most No.1 albums. Not to mention, they are the only band to sell more than 600 million records globally, which again proves that the Beatles are the most influential band ever.

Looking at it now we might think that the band was flawless and could do any kind of music and sing any song, however, if you also think the same then you have never been so wrong because there is a song that even the greatest band could not sing. So what song could they not sing? we will find out as we discuss further in the article.

What is the song that the Beatles just couldn’t sing?

It is pure talent and hard work that they are in the position they are now because they did not take any music classes, they all learned to play instruments and music on their own. This is the reason none of them couldn’t read music nor could they write, which the co-lead vocalist of the band John Lennon revealed in an interview with Playboy back in 1980.

Lennon said, “None of us could read music… None of us can write it, but as pure musicians, as inspired humans to make the noise, they [Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr] are as good as anybody.”

Back in 1965, the song “That Means A Lot” was released and it was written in partnership with Lennon and McCartney however, they could not sing the song, or rather they did not like their version so they let P.J. Proby sing it which was placed on number 24 on the NME chart.

Originally this song was supposed to be part of their album Help! however, when they recorded the song they were not pleased. Furthermore, talking about the song John Lennon said, “This song is a ballad which Paul and I wrote for the film but we found we just couldn’t sing it. In fact, we made a hash of it, so we thought we’d better give it to someone who could do it well.”

Back then McCartney thought that they will never release their version of the song, however, in 1996 after decades the Beatles released a new album Anthology 2 after their reunion as they had split up and in the album they included their version of That Means A Lot.

So few of you may be wondering why did they give P.J. Proby to sing? well, according to McCartney, there were many artists who wanted to sing their songs and they would ask McCartney if they have anything. In his book “Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now,” McCartney talked to Barry Miles and said, “Normally I’d try and bury these songs and not put them out, but there was so much pressure from people, they’d say, ‘Have you got anything? I’d say, ‘I have, but you really don’t want to see them.’ They’d say, ‘I do! Believe me, I think I can make a good job of it, and your name on it would be a big plus.’ So PJ Proby, a friend of ours that we met during the Jack Good television show that we did, Round The Beatles, wanted to do it, so I gave it to him. He had a minor hit with it.”

Well, whatever it was, I think that the fans would have rather loved to hear the song from the Beatles and finally, they got to after many years. You can listen to the song below.

You can go around asking who the greatest and the most iconic musician of the 20th century is and we bet that many people will take the name, Frank Zappa. Certainly, he is one of the greatest because he was an important figure who changed the music scene for good.

As much as people praise Zappa’s music compositions, they do the same for his powerful and very unique guitar-playing ability. Furthermore, Zappa was and is still one of the most influential music artists ever, and even to this day, many of his songs still resonate in the music world. Frank started making music back in the 60s and he became really successful solo artist however, he also formed a band, The Mothers of Invention (The Mothers), he formed the band in 1964 along with other band members.

Besides, Frank is also known to inspire many musicians including Brian May and David Gilmour. However, are there any music artists in the 21st century who is inspired by Zappa? Well, there are many musicians who are inspired by and love Zappa’s work however, in this piece we are going to be talking about Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds. Dan has claimed that he was really inspired by Frank Zappa, so now let’s dig deeper and discuss it in detail, shall we?

What did Dan Reynolds say about Frank Zappa?

As mentioned, Reynolds is inspired by Frank Zappa’s music and I guess that explains why Imagine Dragons are really successful and popular now, well, the frontman of the band is inspired by the great of the greatest after all. If you only follow rock and old music then you might not know who Imagine Dragons are.

Well, Imagine Dragons is an American pop-rock band that was formed back in 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. They are one of the biggest and the most popular as well as iconic bands of this century. Since the early 2000s, this band has been selling record after record and according to our sources, Imagine Dragons have sold twenty million albums globally.

Now let’s move on to the topic, what does Dan Reynolds think of Frank Zappa? well, certainly Reynolds could do nothing but get inspired by the musical legend. A few months back Reynolds was asked about his musical inspirations and he soon replied to his fan, he said, “Buddy Holly, Frank Zappa, Warren Zevon, Weird Al. -B.A. McKee.”

Dan takes several artists’ names including Zappa’s as his musical inspiration. Clearly, there was and there is no other like Zappa because he is the goat. Unfortunately, a catastrophe happened on December 4, 1993, in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California, United States.

And yes, you guessed it correctly, it was the day when Frank Zappa, the legendary musician of the twentieth century passed away. So how did he die? as per the reports, he died battling cancer for a long time. Three years before his death he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and battled it for years however, he could not win against the disease and ended up losing his life in the battle.

Pink Floyd has been one of the biggest influencers and popular bands in the world with over 250 million records sold. After that much success rate, you might think there isn’t any room for regret in Pink Floyd, but there was some.

Let’s time travel and go back to the year 1968, January 3rd when Gilmour accepted a try-out to replace Barrett. Since that day, everything changed for Gilmour.

January 3rd was a big day and his friends were watching him as he was playing at the Imperial College in London. Since that day Gilmour became an important figure in the band. He was enjoying his days in the band and after 20 years he expressed his first regret with the band.

He had his first regret at the time when Roger Waters chose a different path and parted with the band and piles of obstacles started rising. “It was an alarming time,” Glamour said, “It was a big thing to carry on Pink Floyd with Roger having gone.”

Waters was the founding member of the band, and after his leave, the band faced many problems, especially Glamour. Waters and Glamour had the perfect combination because Waters knew his style and sensibility of him.

“He was a big, big part of it.  A major talent and our primary lyricist, So it was difficult. I would think of myself as more of a melodic type and Roger is more of an aggressive wordsmith. Different sides of us came together to create what we became.”

Water was an important figure to the band as he was responsible for bringing ideas that were revolutionary and profound, but those ideas didn’t have the same grounding structural familiarity with Glamour, so he parted ways.

After the leave of Waters, the band was in commotion as they had no idea how they would face this tackle. They tried to tackle the obstacle with the new technologies, which seemed to prove as a failure for them.

“In the eighties, there was a mass of new technology – new keyboards, synthesizers – and we were keen to make a record of its time,” said Glamour.

The band didn’t want to fall back without the guidance of Waters. They wanted to keep moving on forewards and they eventually released their 13th studio album, A Momentary Lapse of Reason which didn’t turn out to be great.

Prince was the mastermind behind the technologies of that era and he himself stated that; “Technology is cool, but you’ve got to use it as opposed to letting it use you.” This was David’s biggest regret.

Gilmour regrets that for a moment the band went out of their path because they tried for a groundbreaking push.

“We embraced this technology with massive enthusiasm. But it was a fashion and fashions go out of fashion.” Gilmour added: “In the years after the album, there were moments when I thought that we hadn’t followed the timeless template that perhaps we should have done.”

David Gilmour regrets that the themes of the songs were out of track which was put in their respective paths by Polly Samson who became a huge lyrical player for the band.

Some people are born with natural talent and some work really hard and beat talent with their hard work. Well, even with natural talent one must learn to play the guitar and Ritchie Blackmore is one hard-working man who mastered the guitar playing techniques. He is someone who can make you bounce with his magnificent guitar-playing ability.

His band Deep Purple must have been glad to have him in the band after all he is the talent his band received as a gift. However, call it unfortunate or a coincidence Blackmore left the band in 1975. Obviously, after leaving the band, he thought of pursuing a solo music career however, he instead changed his plan and formed his own band Rainbow. For decades people have listed Blackmore as one of their favorite guitar players, more than that he is one of the most inspiring guitarists of all time.

And of course, Brian May does not need any introduction, he is certainly one of the most talked about and iconic guitarists who rose to fame as a co-founder and lead guitarist of the popular rock band Queen. Moreover, Brian talked about various guitarists including David Gilmour from Pink Floyd and obviously Ritchie Blackmore too, which is why we are here to discuss what Brian thinks of Blackmore.

What does Brian think of Ritchie Blackmore?

Well, it seems that Blackmore was able to impress and influence Queen’s lead guitarist as well because when Brian was asked about his favorite guitar players he named Blackmore along with several other artists. Talking about Blackmore Brian said, “Another great hero of mine. I think he’s one of the most dangerous guitar players ever. And I mean that in the best possible way. Beautiful! He was there way ahead of any of us.”

Moreover, not only does Brian think of Blackmore as his hero but he also feels that he is underrated. In 2013 Brian went to UK’s Planet Rock radio where he talked about Blackmore and said, “You know, people don’t talk about Ritchie Blackmore enough. I don’t know why, but he was such a trailblazer and technically incredible — unpredictable in every possible way. It’s great. That’s what you love, isn’t it? You go to a gig and you want to see something which is not predictable, which is not like just reproducing. So you never knew what you were gonna see when you went to see Purple, when Blackmore was in it, but also Rainbow. You know, this was his own thing and it was wild and dangerous.” You can also listen to the audio above.

Brian May also said that he really loved Blackmore’s band Rainbow’s song Since You’ve Been Gone from their 1979 album Down to Earth. As mentioned above, Blackmore left Deep Purple and formed his own band Rainbow in 1975. And reports have it that his band has sold more than thirty million records globally.

Moreover, Blackmore is also the co-founder of Deep Purple, he founded or formed the band back in 1968 along with other band members. However, eight years after the band was formed, in 1976 they split up only to get reunited in 1984. Deep Purple is certainly one of the most popular bands and they were even listed as the globe’s loudest band back in 1975. Furthermore, talking about their total album sales, they have millions of fan following and as per the reports, they have sold more than a hundred million albums globally.

Their best-selling album is MACHINE HEAD which sold more than 2,821,000 copies. And certainly, it is clear that all the band members are musical geniuses however, Blackmore really made a difference in the band. People even believe that if he was not in the band then the band would not have been this sensational.

There is a saying, “You should never meet your heroes,” and Pink Floyd’s former bassist Roger Waters proved the point. When searching who the greatest songwriters of all time there will always come the names of the co-vocalist of the Beatles, John Lennon, and co-founder of Pink Floyd Roger Waters. These two guys are phenomenal music artists who have millions of fans.

And they both have one similarity they were successful even when they were in the band and in their solo music career. The Beatles were a senior band than Pink Floyd as they were formed and started making music four years before them and they were really sensational, they were inspiring many other artists and as a music fan, Roger Waters could do nothing but admire the Beatles.

The Beatles and Pink Floyd crossed their ways back in the late 60s or early 70s. However, their meeting would be pretty awkward. So what happened when they met that Roger regretted their meeting?

Roger Waters’ huge regret about John Lennon

Well, it is pretty well-known that as famous Lennon was, so was his ego. Although there is debate about whether the Imagine singer had an ego problem, as mentioned, many people believe that Lennon was quite egoistic.

As mentioned, Roger Waters was and still is a great admirer of the Beatles and John Lennon. He was really inspired by the Beatles because in 2015 he was in an interview where he revealed that he learned to write about his feelings from Lennon and McCartney, he said, “I learned from John Lennon and Paul McCartney and George Harrison that it was okay for us to write about our lives, and what we felt — and to express ourselves… That we could be free artists and that there was a value in that freedom. And there was.”

However, his meeting with his idol John Lennon went terribly wrong. Back when the Beatles were recording their new album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band at the number two studio in Abbey Road studio, while Pink Floyd was there to record their debut album, Piper, At The Gates Of Dawn, at the number three studio. So, Pink Floyd was not known because they were just starting to make music back then.

And as mentioned Roger regretted their meeting. Speaking of their regrettable meeting Roger explained that both Lennon and he were snotty. Roger appeared in Marc Maron’s WTF podcast and said, “I only met John Lennon once, to my huge regret, and that was in the control room at Number 2. He was a bit caustic, he was quite snotty – so was I.”

Well, that is not how anyone would like to meet their idol. And this is one of the reasons why they say that you should never meet your heroes. Furthermore, this encounter might have fueled Roger because he was young back then and we all know how much ego we have when we are young, so I would even say that this encounter might have helped Roger become a better musician than he was.

However, even if he had some grudge against Lennon, he doesn’t have it now because no matter what happened, Lennon still is one of Waters’ favorite singers and songwriters. It is really unfortunate that John Lennon was killed only at the age of 40 years old. John was brutally shot to death outside The Dakota Apartments in New York City on December 8, 1980. Apparently, one of Lennon’s crazy fans Mark David Chapman did not like the statement Lennon made about the Beatles, “More popular than Jesus.”

Speaking of Roger, he and the frontman of Pink Floyd David Gilmour had a disagreement so he left the band and started his solo music journey.

Who do you consider the greatest as well as the most influential guitarist of all time? Well, certainly there are numerous guitar players listed as the greatest, however, among that list, we will find two names Jimi Hendrix and the founder as well as guitarist of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page.

Certainly, Hendrix is one of the biggest names in the music world and he really deserves everything he’s getting because the guy literally changed the whole rock music scene. Furthermore, he is not considered influential for no reason, he influenced and inspired many music artists including Paul McCartney from the Beatles and David Gilmour from Pink Floyd.

Even Led Zeppelin’s guitarist really idolizes Jimi Hendrix. Although Jimmy himself is one of the most legendary guitar players, he still thinks that Hendrix’s guitar skill is unmatched, which really shows Jimmy’s humbleness however, it also shows how great Hendrix was.

The 1960s was a pure rock era and both these musicians helped redefine what true rock music is, and more than that they represented the guitar-playing art. These guys had raw talent which is why they are considered the greatest. As mentioned, Jimmy idolizes Hendrix however, he also has one big regret about Jimi Hendrix, let’s discuss the biggest regret Jimmy has about Jimi Hendrix.

What did Jimmy Page say about Jimi Hendrix?

Although Jimmy Page says that Hendrix’s guitar skill is unmatched, Page himself is not some rookie, he has a really deep relationship with guitar and he is also a music veteran. Before founding Led Zeppelin Page used to rock with the Yardbirds. Furthermore, he also worked with several musicians including Van Morrison, the Rolling Stones, Jeff Beck, and more.

He then founded Led Zeppelin in 1968 and this band turned out to be a true legend that even Page himself would not have thought about. The band has nearly sold three hundred million units globally. Page’s guitar-playing ability is certainly impressive, especially the combination of minor and major pentatonic patterns.

So what does Page think of the revolutionary musician Jimi Hendrix? well, Jimmy undoubtedly like everyone else thinks Hendrix is one of the best and most inspirational guitarists however, as mentioned above, he also has one big regret about Hendrix.

Page told in an interview with Rolling Stone, “We’ve lost the best guitarist any of us ever had, and that was Hendrix.” Furthermore, he said, “It is just kind of a shame that I never really had a chance to talk with him or hear him, I heard his records, naturally, but it would’ve been a thrill to see how he worked things out on stage. That’s quite another ballgame, as you know.”

However, it is not like Page never meet him, he did meet Hendrix but the thing is when they met Hendrix was hardly aware of his surroundings. Page said, “Did I ever meet him? I did actually go into a club in New York called Salvation, and he was there, but he was totally out of it, he didn’t really know who anybody was — he was barely conscious. Somebody was just kind of holding him up.”

It seems that Page really is the biggest admirer of Jimi Hendrix as he told Jimi was the “best guitarist any of us ever had.” There are several other artists who Jimmy considers his favorite and the greatest, however, we can be sure that the one who is in first place on the list is none other than Jimi Hendrix. Furthermore, a few of Page’s other favorite guitar players or musicians include Eric Clapton, Clarence White, Amos Garrett, Elliott Randall, and several others.
